Client Training & Onboarding Intern
We are taking on two interns to help new businesses get onto sell.ke and get good at it. This is the job that decides whether a shop that signs up is still trading on the system in three months, which makes it one of the most consequential roles in the company rather than a junior one.
You will spend your days with real merchants — a pharmacy owner who has never used a till system, a wholesaler with four thousand products in a notebook, a restaurant that needs its staff trained before Friday. You will walk them through setting up, you will answer the question behind the question they asked, and you will be the reason they stop being nervous about the software.
It is remote, and it is genuinely remote: we will not ask you to come into an office. What we will ask is that you are reachable during Kenyan business hours, because that is when shops are open and when they need you.
What you will do
- Train new clients on sell.ke — the point of sale, stock, the online store and reports — over call, video and WhatsApp
- Onboard new businesses end to end: load their product catalogue, set up branches, staff logins and permissions, and get their payment methods connected and tested
- Run follow-up sessions in the first weeks after go-live, when the questions that actually matter start arriving
- Write and improve the short guides and walkthroughs clients are sent, so the same question stops being asked
- Feed what you hear back to the product team — the confusions you have to talk somebody through are bugs in the design, and nobody else hears them as clearly as you
What we are looking for
- A diploma or degree in IT, computer science, business information technology, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience you can show us
- Comfortable explaining something technical to somebody who is not technical, without making them feel slow
- Clear written and spoken English and Kiswahili
- Patient, and genuinely interested in how small businesses run
- A reliable internet connection and a laptop you can work from
Nice to have, not required
- Any retail, pharmacy, restaurant or wholesale experience — having stood behind a counter is worth more here than it sounds
- Experience with any POS, inventory or accounting software
- Comfort making a training video or writing a short how-to
